Dorchester Pottery Works, established in 1895, produced a popular stoneware foot warmer known as the "Henderson Foot Warmer" or "Porcelain Pig". This hot water bottle, shaped like a pig, was one of their distinctive early products. It was designed to be filled with hot water and placed at the foot of a bed or used in other settings to provide warmth before central heating.
This item could be filled with hot water to keep the users feet warm in the cold months. Before this product, people would heat bricks and stones to keep warm.
