Antique 38"×58" Handmade Flatweave Wool rug, 42 different rectangular patterns

This is a 38"×58" flat weave rug with 42 separate and different patterns in 5"×8" boxes. It is bordered in dark brown with the field showing red, black, light blue, tan, and pink. I believe in to be South American, maybe Peru and about mid-century. It is wool on cotton warp and weft. I believe it may have been loomed in two pieces and joined in the middle. This is normally indicative of age in American coverlets given older looms are usually smaller looms. In South America, a smaller loom may also mean a home loom.
It is in excellent condition and will require a pad underneath as with any rug.
