Beautiful Antique Chinese Qing Famille Rose MUSSELL and HERON Folk Story Diorama Porcelain Statue Figurine with Elaborate Hand Painted Enamels. Signed by the artist / maker. 4.8” Long. The heron and the mussell are locked in a battle of wills for who will let go first. A fisherman comes along and takes them both. A moral story about the perils of being stubborn. The polychrome enamels vary in vivid colors. Wonderful character and expression. With impressed marks. Great subject and textural interest. See the photos.
It has CHINA stamped under the foot. Also, with Impressed Chinese characters in square cartouche under the foot for the artist / maker signature. See the photos.
Circa Qing or Early Republic: 1880s to 1920s. China.
Approx. 3.7” Tall X 2.4” Wide X 4.8” Long.
Good previously owned antique condition. Most of the fisherman's hat is broke off. Some other signs of age and use that you may expect from an antique piece, but I did not see others worth noting. See the photos.
