Antique German Westerwald Stoneware Beer Stein w/ Pewter Lid – 19th Century

This is an authentic antique German Westerwald beer stein, dating from the mid-to-late 19th century. It is crafted from classic salt-glazed gray stoneware with deep cobalt blue decoration and a fitted pewter lid with finial.
The body is decorated with raised floral and geometric designs, a hallmark of Westerwald craftsmanship. Inside the lid is an old hand-scratched inscription that appears to read “1809” — most likely added by an early owner as a personal mark. There is also an incised “L” mark below the rim, likely a potter’s or decorator’s signature.
