Aztec-Inspired Big, Big Necklace with Bigger, Bigger Masks

This rather astonishing Aztec-inspired pendant necklace is likely from the 1970s. The chain is a chainmail type (thick rope), made entirely out of bright, gold metal rings. Woven through the center of the chain is the pendant, constructed of three large tribal masks. The masks are silver metal; the silver shows up poorly in the photographs, however. These masks are fierce, with cutout facial features. Embellishments hang from the tops of the masks—some perhaps are hands. There is some silver metal loss on the masks, showing copper beneath. There is no other visible damage. The chain itself is 21-1/2” long and 1/2” thick; it has a 2-1/4” extender and a simple hook closure. Each mask is 2-1/8” x 1-7/8”. The entire three-mask pendant is ~ 4” x 4”. An absolutely amazing piece (and it weighs 7.5 ounces)!
