THIS IS MY APPRAISAL: This is a lovely vase. It is soapstone and sealed to the rosewood custom fit base. The carving is very intricate and done to compliment the stone. The color of the soapstone flows with the carving.
It was done 1950-1960 even early 1970s this design, size and form or pieces were produced. The value on this piece is $175-225.00 This size was used for dried flowers on a side table or brush and pencil holder on a scholars' desk. It appears to be in great condition, I enlarged all photos and see no real damage to the vase.

Since I have little knowledge of this wonderful soapstone pieces I had an appraisal done. It measures 4.5" tall and width at its widest is 3.5" wide. Truly lovely piece.
