This beautiful handmade basket originates from Charleston, South Carolina and is crafted in the Gullah tradition using sweet grass. The basket features a sturdy 3 piece coil handle and measures 8 x 7 inches in diameter, 7" tall, basket is 3" deep making it a perfect addition to any home decor or collection. Its cultural significance stems from its African roots, and its time period of manufacture is post-1950. The basket is a unique piece of history, with an ownership history that is unfortunately not available. It was made without any modifications and is a wonderful example of the craftsmanship of the Gullah people.
