Pair of Antique Samson Chelsea Cats on Green Pillows with Gold Anchor Marks.
This endearing pair of diminutive cats are marked with a gold anchor on the back. The anchor mark was used by Chelsea in the 18th century. During the 19th century Edmé Samson et Cie in Paris, France produced high-quality copies of primarily 18th century porcelain figures by Chelsea, Meissen and others. This pair of cats is attributed to Samson in the style of Chelsea with spots or polka dots. They sit on green cushions with a soft gilt border. They are finely painted with delicate coloring and features. Samson's work from the 19th century is highly collectible in its own right.
This pair of cats dates to circa 11950. Offered as a pair.
