This finely enameled porcelain jar with its original lid exemplifies the artistic refinement and export-focused porcelain production of early 20th-century China during the Republic Period (1912-1949).
This jar is in a very unique shape, features intricate famille rose (fencai) decoration, characterized by soft pastel enamels and delicate brushwork. The exterior depicts four people within a serene garden landscape on each side, some flowers decorated around the top and bottom of the jar. The base bears a red "CHINA" mark, indicating it was intended for export, likely to the Western market during the 1920s-30s. This piece not only served as a tea or spice container but also as a decorative item for global collectors seeking exotic domestic objects.
Overall in great condition with light wear from age. A tiny chip inside the rim of the mouth as pictured.
