Printed for use in Hawaii in case of a Japanese invasion - this Series 1935A $1 Silver Certificate has black overprints of Hawaii running vertically at the left and right portions of the face, as well as prominently across the back. The overprints assured instant recognition (and devaluation) of the notes in the event of enemy occupation, or enemy capture of large quantities of cash. With Julian-Morgenthau signatures, this historic WWII note is highly sought after by collectors.
