This is a vintage Japanese porcelain teapot it serves 2-3 people and it comes with a stainless steel strainer. This Japanese Porcelain Tea Pot is known as a Chojugiga teapot. This has been hand painted and is signed by the artist on the inside of the porcelain lid. The image on the side is titled The Monkey Thief and is taken from 12th Century picture scrolls called Choju-giga also commonly called Scrolls of Frolicking Animals. It also has a hand painted frog on its lid also part of the original Japanese Scroll. There are 4 panels in total with Monkey Thief being the first panel. These 4 panels are located in the Kozan-Ji Temple Kyoto Japan.
This Vintage Japanese Porcelain Teapot, Hand Painted, Japanese Painting Monkey Thief from Choju-giga Kozan-ji Temple Kyoto Japan is in new condition. It comes with a steel strainer on the inside spout. It has a hand painted Monkey Thief image on the side as well as hand painted frog on the lid. #ippodo
