A bit of history: (Lustreware or lusterware (the respective spellings for British English & American English) is a type of pottery or porcelain with a metallic iridescent glaze, which gives it a shimmering appearance
(Demitasse is the French word for half cup, & I holds about 2-3 fl oz.)
Porcelain marked "Nippon" was produced primarily between 1891 and 1921, while "Made in Occupied Japan" or "Occupied Japan" marked porcelain was made between 1945 and 1952. "Nippon" was used to comply with the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890, which required the country of origin to be included on imported goods. The term "Japan" or "Made in Japan" became standard after 1921 when the U.S. government required the English translation of the country's name
