The 1968 Janus Films release of King Kong was a restored version of the original 1933 film, presented uncut for the first time in decades. It reintroduced scenes that had been removed due to censorship, including more intense violence, Kong's attacks, and some of the film’s darker moments. This version ran approximately 100 minutes and was shown in art house theaters starting around 1970 after being rediscovered from a 16mm print.
