For Sale Today:
An absolutely gorgeous - and one of the scarcer larger examples - antique flint glass specimen bottle jar (numbered MT 1027) made for Louis Agassiz of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University.
This glass bottle was made by the New England Glass Company, circa 1860's through 1870's.
Overall, good condition. Chip around the rim of the jar. Stopper has some fleabites around the base. Stopper also has what appear to be a hairline running through it, although there is a chance it is a manufacturing imperfection. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
Dimensions:
Height (with stopper) 7 3/4"
Width ~ 2 7/8"
