The Chacmool sculpture is depicted as a reclining figure with its head facing 90 degrees from the front. It supports itself on it's elbows and carries a bowl or a disk on it's stomach. These figures possibly symbolized slain warriors carrying offerings to the gods. The chacmool form of sculpture first appeared around the 9th century AD in the Valley of Mexico and the northern Yucatán Peninsula. A wide variety of materials were used to sculpt chacmools, including limestone and hard metamorphic and igneous rock types. Other materials employed include ceramic and cement. Chacmools vary from each other in size, color and some may be facing the right while others are facing towards the left.

Artisans Esteban Vazquez and Cesar Vazquez replicate these historically rich sculptures with a fusion of modern art and midcentury style. This sculpture is made of white cement and has a fine finish of sand made of marble with a rough sandy texture. Dimensions: 8.5" x 4" wide and 8" tall.
