If you are planning a visit to Montana or Any of our majestic national parks to catch a glimpse of one of these beautiful creatures… you better have your camera ready! It’s likely you will see one if you are in the vicinity of our beautiful cabinet mountains or in south western Montana. Big Hole Montana has the largest population of moose in the state. The more dense the forest the more likely you’ll see one. Montana Moose, larger than a grizzly bear can weigh up to 12,000 lbs. Although moose can be hunted , hunters are limited on moose and Elk.
Hunters are not their primary predators. Wolves ,brown or grizzly bears, black bears,and recently, cougars have been identified as their primary predators.
