Kozo is a traditional Japanese paper made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. For this custom Pop, the Kozo laminate art process combines hand-painting with layered Kozo sheets directly onto the Funko box. This technique allows the paint and paper fibers to blend together, creating a one-of-a-kind textured look. The laminate adds richness, protects the artwork, and ensures the colors stay vibrant over time.
The paper itself was handmade in Japan by our artist AM under the guidance of traditional masters. AM then brought the paper to the U.S. and fused it with hand-painted art to create this exclusive collectible.
