Reinhold Merkelbach Vintage German Ceramic Beer Stein w/Pewter Lid Lords Prayer

This striking stein is monumental, each standing 14 ¼ inches tall. 4 inches in diameter at the base and 2 3/8 inches in diameter at the mouth, with hinged pewter lid. The Lord’s Prayer is in raised relief running around the sides of the steins from top to bottom. There is a drip glazed surface in a brown-caramel shade with the raised letters done in light brown-to-cream in bold relief. The prayer is all written in German, “Der Vater Unser”.

Stein is in excellent condition with no signs of damage anywhere that we could find. They are marked on the bottom with “Made in Germany”, a maker's logo and inventory number. Web research indicates that they are an early design made by Reinhold Merkelbach in West Germany, possibly in the 1960’s. It is very heavy, and we will do what we can to minimize the shipping costs without jeopardizing their safety. This is a wonderful stein for display. They would be great on a mantle or shelf.
