Robert B. Fisher, West African Religious Traditions: Focus on the Akan of Ghana

This gently used 1989 Orbis Press paperback is an excellent introduction to the traditional religious beliefs and practices of West Africa with special emphasis upon the Akan of Ghana. Author Roger Fisher has lived and taught in Ghana for decades and studied with sympathy and respect the indigenous religion and culture and Ghanaian history. As a Catholic Christian he brings the two different traditions into dialogue, not to prove the superiority of one but rather to foster mutual understanding and respect. Well-written and accessible to non-specialists. An excellent resource for students of interfaith dialogue. Overall good condition with tight binding and clean unmarked pages. Smoke free home.
