Royal Winton Grimwades Chintzware Summertime Covered Butter Cheese Dish - England C1930s. . The 'Summertime' pattern, a bouquet of English countryside summer flowers, was the second chintz pattern becoming the most successful of the more than sixty patterns produced there after. The earthenware butter dish is a simpler design with back stamp indicating 1930's, whereas the later dishes had a more serpentine edge on the under plate. Not perfect, but a find for the collector of early chintzware.

Estate find in good vintage condition. The gilt shows signs of age in areas; the butter cover has brown-colored areas on edge (pictured) most likely from use with a manufacturer earthenware flaw on underside (arrow in picture). No utensil marks noted on under plate. Measures approx 6" L; 3.5" H
