This is a signed, framed original batik by nationally recognized artist, Vera Kirk. Vera Kirk created watercolors and batiks depicting the Amish. Out of respect for their belief that photos were graven images, she did not put faces on her subjects. One of her batiks was selected for the Georgia Museum of Art. Her work has also been produced in cross stitch patterns and prints.
This batik depicts an Amish boy carrying a basket with his dog. The double matted, framed piece measures 12 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches high. The dark brown frame is distressed wood.
