This art pottery bird figurine was hand painted and finished with a glossy glaze. The manufacturer was the Stangl Pottery Co. of Flemington, New Jersey. Their outlet showroom was a popular tourist destination where shoppers would search for quality pottery at bargain prices. This cardinal figure measures 7 inches tall. The bottom part looks like a leafy stump and is painted green and brown. Marked on the base: "Stangl /3444" (the number in ink is the decorator's). In very good condition. Circa 1950's.
