Lorelai can be seen wearing this beautiful silk midi dress, in the monumental season 4 finale, episode 22, of Gilmore Girls, titled, "Raincoats and Recipes," as well as in season 5, episode 1, titled, "Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller." Both episode aired in 2004.
So many epic events take place while Lorelai wears this dress: she officially opens the Dragonfly Inn, she kissed Luke for the very first time and she catches Rory after she slept with Dean!
