The 1934 Hawaii $10 note was an emergency-issue Federal Reserve note with "HAWAII" overprinted on both sides. The notes were issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco during World War II.
Features
Brown seal and serial numbers
Signatures of Julian and Morgenthau
Portrait of Alexander Hamilton on the front
View of the U.S. Treasury Building on the back
Hawaii lettering on both sides
Purpose
The notes were printed in case of a Japanese invasion of Hawaii. If an invasion occurred, all notes with the "Hawaii" overprint would be made invalid. Many of the notes were destroyed, but some have survived and are sought by collectors.
