Rare 1846 edition of The Amulet, published by Otis, Broaders & Co., Boston. Bound in ornate black leather with elaborate gilt decoration on the spine and blind-stamped covers. Features an engraved frontispiece and decorative title page.
This copy has a wonderful period inscription dated February 14, 1846, from Sabbath School scholars in Stow, Massachusetts, giving it added historical interest.
Condition is fair. The binding shows edge and corner wear, and while the leather gilt on the spine is still readable, it is rubbed. The pages are in rough shape, with heavy foxing, age toning, and some wear consistent with nearly 180 years of age. Still, it remains an authentic mid-19th century gift annual with plenty of character.
