The Kidnapping of the Sabine Women is a reproduction of the work of the same name by Giambologna in 1581. The sculpture represents the scene of the famous abduction of the women by the Romans, in a tangle of tense figures that seem to climb upwards.
This 19" high antique sculpture was made in Italy, and is made of marble/alabaster. The 6" x 1" base appears to be made of a hard, dense, dark wood or stone. An old worn label is on the bottom, see picture. Possibly made by A. Santini?
The tip of the woman's thumb has broken off, see pictures, but is barely noticeable, you have to look very closely to see it, otherwise the statue is in very good condition.
All items sold as-is, see pictures for details. Feel free to ask questions!
