Beautiful vintage-antique necklace handcrafted by the Rana Tharu people from Southwestern Nepal, mid-1900s.
Necklace is made of white metal or low-alloy silver and brass, has spike beads in distressed silver + gold or brass color and red + green Muslin fabric base. Button + loop closure made with what is likely a scalloped Anna coin (coin worn too smooth to discern) + Muslin fabric. Set at the front of the necklace, 1917 One Rupee coin is at center.
This necklace has interesting oxidation on majority of spikes giving some brassy + some coppery areas (see closeups) + some spikes are slightly askew, all common for these necklaces. The older tribal pieces have been worn + reflect years of loving use (c. early-mid 1900s).
Condition: In very good condition for age which is estimated to be early-mid 1900s.

Size: 19" Long (end to end) + is approx 2.5" Wide.
Generally rests just below the collarbone.
