This ring belonged to my grandfather who would've gotten it in the mid 1960's. One owner.
Men's ring commemorating membership in the Shriners organization (Master Masons, Masonic, Freemasons, Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite). Unique and beautifully rendered ring of 10k yellow gold (marked on inside, NOT plated) with a head of square polished black onyx and central Shriners emblem (traditional scimitar and claws). The shoulders feature relief sculpted lions in profile, open mouths, with a small diamond (?) beneath each.
My best guess is that this is a size 13 (inner circumference measures about 22mm). The head of the ring is 5/8 inches wide. Total weight is 9 grams.
The lion relief detail has worn down a bit due to normal wear, and one of the claws on the emblem is cracked. Unworn and in a drawer for over 40 years. This ring was well loved and a point of great pride. It deserves to be worn and appreciated by an active member of this fraternal organization! Smoke free home.
