This stunning pair of Asian-inspired figurines from Ceramic Arts Studio, Madison, WI are true mid-century elegance. Designed by Betty Harrington, the studio pieces portray theatrical adults of the era. The exquisite designs of the celebrated 'theater pieces', the chartreuse-colored 'Comedy' and 'Tragedy' figurines with matte black masks were inspired by modern dance movement with a touch of whimsy, C 1950's. A wonderful find for the mid-century collector.
An estate find, the pair are in very good vintage condition; no chips or repairs. CAS signed on underside. There is a orange-colored residue, I assume from glue, on the unglazed underside of each figurine. I have pictured (indicated with an arrow) a small black mark on the front of 'Tragedy's dress. PRICE ADJUSTED. Measures approx 10-11" H
