Vintage Chinese Foo Dog Seal Chop Stamp "CHARLES" Square Hand Carved Rose Gray Marbled Soapstone Sculpture In Original Box
This beautiful, hand carved Foo Dog sculpture is from our trip to China in 1993. The base of the piece, the chop mark, is "CHARLES". That was my maiden name.
The artist carved the name while we watched.
The Foo Dog is balancing on an intricately carved. This fierce figurine is made of a rose gray marbled soapstone. Snarling teeth, sharp claws, an intense stare and open spaces are the features that stand out on this piece. The stamp on the bottom of the figurine is the name" CHARLES" in both Mandarin and English.
This piece is in excellent condition.
It comes in its original box. The 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" box is covered in silk gold and greens fabric in an abstract floral pattern. The closure is a thin piece of bone like material that slides in a loop. The inside of the box is done in red cushioned fabric to protect the sculpture. The box is ink stained.
