Rare carved folk art pieces from the Lithuanian artist Puskorius.
These hangings, carved by the renowned Lithuanian artist Raimundas Puskorius, are traditional folk art pieces attributed to a holiday called Uzagavenes similar to Halloween. The holiday consists of costumed processionals parading throughout the city dressed as bears, cranes, beggars, devils, witches, and every other manner of creature mythical or otherwise. Masked children run door to door after sundown requesting sweets, fruits, and pancakes. The festival culminates in a theatrical "battle" between the personification of winter and the personification of coming spring.
These pieces are in very good vintage condition. Both hangings range in height between 8-9"and are about 2" wide and 2 3/8" deep.
