Vintage Le Bambole di Arianna Porcelain Doll “Federico”.
Handmade In Italy.
Incised on the back of head: "ARIANNA ITALIA"
Doll was never displayed nor played with.
Approximately 12” tall.
Purchased in the late 1990s in Europe.
Doll has a full body of fine bisque porcelain and is 5-way jointed (neck, shoulders and hips). He has a "Le Bambole di Arianna" tag suspended from his delicate wrist by gold cord and a second tag from where he was purchased in Madrid, Spain.
The hair is made of Mohair and is covered with a lovely cap trimmed with satin. His green eyes are hand-painted glass. His gorgeous outfit is made of the finest European materials, a tradition that goes back to the 1830s. He wears lace slippers with a crocheted flower on each one. Hs beige suit consists of matching pants and shirt. The shirt is trimmed with Italian lace and an embroidered collar, buttoned in the back.
