Vintage Native American Wolf Willow Seed & Ghost Bead Necklace 5 Medallion 21” Hand Made. Gap in fringe at bottom, missing 2 strings, see last photo. No other issues. Unknown tribal affiliation. Dated pre-1980s. Made with real wolf willow (silver berry) seeds. Wolf willow berries were used by the Blackfoot People to make seed necklaces. The berries were boiled to remove the flesh and the pointed nutlets strung onto necklaces or used to decorate the fringes on clothing. Each seed is dark brown with yellow stripes. Ghost Beads are actually dried juniper berries. They represent the spiritual connection man has with mother earth and all living things. It is also believed to bring about peace, harmony, and protect one from harm. Ghost Beads are used to ward off negative energy, bringing about protection from evil spirits, ghosts, and nightmares.
