Vintage Tibetan Temple Prayer Horn (Dung Hen) made entirely of lightweight bamboo with pressed floral and geometric designs. This piece is a folk-art interpretation of the traditional Dung Hen (also known as Dung Chen), a long ceremonial trumpet used in Buddhist temple rituals and prayer ceremonies throughout the Himalayan region.
The horn features a flared bell, smooth bamboo interior, and extends from 17 inches to 34.5 inches. It includes a gold braided cord for display or carrying. Unlike the large metal versions used in monasteries, this example is crafted completely from bamboo — making it decorative, lightweight, and ideal for display.
Condition:
Good vintage condition overall. Surface scuffed with small wear and slight deformation at the bottom rim (see photos). Minor age marks consistent with handcrafted bamboo.
Approximate Dimensions:
• Collapsed Length: 17”
• Extended Length: 34.5”
• Bell Diameter: ~4”
• Material: Bamboo
• Weight: Very light
A beautiful Tibetan folk
