Vintage "mano figa" stone from Brazil is an amulet representing a hand gesture believed to ward off evil & bring good luck. It appears to be made of marble, though I can't confirm this, it may well be made of another stone. See the photos to decide. Sometimes worn as a talisman, used as a good luck charm. The "figa" part refers to the hand gesture itself, where the thumb is tucked between the index & middle fingers, forming a fist. Associated with protection against the evil eye & promote fertility. According to AI, the 2 pieces represents duality of the hand gesture. The chain symbolizes connection between the 2, detachment, freedom, incompletion or vulnerability or design choice. The last link attached to the hand is round & the others are oval so, it must have been made in 2 pieces. Hand & attached chain is 5 1/2" long & the hand is 1 1/4" wide. The chain that is attached to the hand has a natural crack in the outer layer of one of the links and does not go all the way through.
